Roger was our first scholarship dog.
Roger came to us via Stumptown Strays and his new human. Roger was a stray in Oregon, in desperate need of medical care. Stumptown Strays took him in, placed him in a foster home, and provided the medical care he needed. Once Roger was healthy enough to be adopted (he needed nutrition and basic healthcare) new mom, Laura, stepped in and took him home.
Because Roger is a very energetic cattle/healer dog he needed an outlet for his energy. We placed him in our Fitness Fun level 1 course where he can learn how to use his body with safer techniques.
Roger will most likely be an active dog his entire life so we’ll be creating a unique fitness program for him so his human can provide mental and physical enrichment for him that doesn’t involve herding cattle for eight hours a day.
Roger has a lot to learn about cohabitating with humans and we are thrilled to be on this journey with him! We couldn’t have done this without a generous donation to AWS from Patti, another AWS student.
It often takes a village - and Roger found a village full of love.
